To Do Tuesday 61

I have some progress to show you in this To Do Tuesday 61 post. I’m linking up with Texas Quilt Gal and the rest of my quilting friends who join in this linky party each week.

Here are the highlights of what I accomplished last week:

Hole In The Day

Hole In The Day quilt, made for my husband - piecefulthoughts.com

By the time you are reading this post, Hole In The Day will be finished. All that’s left is the hand sewing step of the binding. This little quilt, measuring 14″ x 26″, was requested by BigJ, who will be giving it as a gift. The background fabric is a beautiful gradient from Colorways by Vicki. The green fabric is Grunge in Rifle. The trees are done in a solid navy blue that was in my stash. I hand sketched the trees, then traced them onto SoftFuse, then stitched them down by raw edge applique. The constellation Pleiades (Hole In the Day) is hand stitched using Aurifil floss in white (#2021). I kept the quilting simple, using wavy lines in blue for the sky, and vertical straight line stitching in the green with green thread. The binding was tricky and didn’t quite turn out as I wanted but I’m satisfied with it. This was a challenging, yet fun, project.

Wonky Stars Runner

This is the last of the church projects, a wonky star runner that will hang on the wall of one of the classrooms. I had so much fun with this. The background fabric and white star fabric both glow in the dark. You’ll have to trust me on this, because I forgot to try taking a photo in the dark. The black background fabric is Galactic by Michael Miller. The white star fabric is Fairy Frost by Michael Miller. The gray and peach stars, as well as the backing fabric are all scraps from my stash. The finished runner measures 14.5″ x 42″.

Two and Four QAL

I’m all caught up on this QAL hosted by Katy Quilts and Wedding Dress Blue. There are more colors in this quilt than brown, red and gold – stacked underneath are also blue, teal, purples and a few black fabrics. I’m using my Kim Diehl/Jo Morton fabrics along with other reproduction fabrics from my stash.

So what’s on my list for this week?

Start

Challenge Quilt – this is due Nov. 1st; still waiting for inspiration

Finish

  • QIS Monochrome Challenge
  • Bind Plus Playtime, Beothuk, and 2020 MCC

Prep

  • Red/Tan Quilt back
  • Backing for Coreopsis and Let Your Star Shine

And that’s my To Do Tuesday 61 post for this week. I’m pleased with the progress I made this past week. We’ll see how well I do with my projects this week.

How was your week?

Wendy
